Gary Bisson: Principal

Data gathered over the last two years has shown the high school's improvement plan to be particularly effective. Failure rates have been reduced by 39% in English and 44% in mathematics. Additionally, state test scores have continued to improve for the school as a whole and in all previously identified disaggregated groups.

The high school has added three new initiatives to complement the ongoing school improvement plan. A drop out prevention and recovery program using Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports is being developed; the Frameworks Youth Suicide Prevention Project is being piloted and a New Hampshire Department of Education competency writing grant is being undertaken.

We are continuously evaluating and adding student centered career enhancement programs to the high school's course offerings. The high school has increased its "Running Start" and "Project Lead The Way" courses, maintained its various Advanced Placement programs and added the Future Teachers Academy to the school's program of studies.

The State of New Hampshire and City of Berlin have followed through on their 2.23 million dollar commitment to renovate the Berlin Regional Career and Technology Center. Area students now have a state of the art facility to further augment their educational options.

The school's athletes have continued to excel. Last school year every team advanced to the playoffs. The field hockey team won the Class M title, the track team's 4 X 400 team were State Champions and the men's ice hockey team lost in the State Division I Finals.

Berlin High School's staff and administrators are committed to providing quality education to all students and look forward to continued success and achievement for all our students.
