Berlin High School's Maynesborough Chapter of the National Honor Society is one of the oldest societies in the NHS charter. Its existence has been uninterrupted since recieving a charter in 1926. In fact, the chapter bears the original name given to this township.
National Honor Society Goals:
- provide service
- excercise leadership skills
- build character
- promote excellence in students' academics
Elegibility Requirements:
- active participation in community service projects
- obtain a weighted average of 94 or above over three semesters
- completed 3 semesters of high-school study
Curent Activities:
- Annual high school quiz; with St. Jude's Research Hospital of Memphis, Tennessee.
- Annual fund raising; for purchase of facilities at the Northern Forest Heritage Park.
- School beautification projects, including a marble bench, stone patio, granite wall, and a six-foot tall mountie statue.
