The Junior Council of World Affairs at BHS provides students with the opportunity to travel, to meet foreign students, to host visiting students, and to attend conferences in New Hampshire. Educational trips to Boston, New York City, and European nations occur each year. Some Junior Council of World Affair's events allow students from several schools to work together.

International Partners in Education

Mission Statement

International Partners in Education between New Hampshire schools and English schools in the Newbury area is dedicated to improve cultural understanding and expand the competitive advantages within the global economy.  This partnership will focus on international activities and advance the educational development for students through a broad range of international activities, programs and resources.

The belief is that active involvement of the schools, students, parents, community, businesses, higher education, civic groups, and organizations will create significant improvements in the level of education and economic competitiveness.  Investments of time, programs, funding, and other support establish standards for education that are built on a deep, broad knowledge of the real challenges that exist in the global economy.

History

Since 1990, SAU 3, SAU 20, and other New Hampshire schools have been partners with Park House School, Nebury.  In six exchanges, 221 students and 34 adults from Newbury have visited New hampshire.  In seven exchanges, 276 students and 98 adults from New Hampshire have visited Newbury.  These exchanges have included three bands and have also resulted in hundreds of students and families providing homestays in both New Hampshire and England.  The educational and cultural interaction has motivated many individual return visits, and lasting friendships still exist.
