Accounting II is for students with determined career objectives in the accounting profession. It is designed for students who want to become accounting clerks upon graduation from high school, obtain skills and knowledge needed for beginning accounting careers, develop a foundation on which to continue the study of accounting at the college level, and own their own businesses. Business Law is offered to the general student body and recommended for anyone exploring a career in business, law, contracts, employment/consumer protection, and/or insurance. To gain awareness in these practical areas, current pertinent examples and simulations are used to address: contracts, business operations/formation, buying and selling procedures, consumer rights, employment laws, warranties and guarantees, and a concentration on many civil law issues. Students will be made aware of their legal rights as an employer/employee/contracter/agent, consumers, and as a member of society. Real contracts, leasing/renting agreements, labor negotiations, large item purchases are provided. This is a highly recommended course for the junior or senior in pursuing a career in business, law, sales, labor, or just an aware and informed consumer.

Business Technology is a vocational course offered to juniors or seniors. It provides extensive training in word processing, database, spreadsheet, and desktop publishing. Each student will have their own computer during class and learn the most popular software such as Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Access, and Microsoft Publisher. Realistic computerized simulations stressing the field the student is interested in, on the job training, and appropriate business behavior provides a marketable experience for students who wish to find full-time employment upon graduation or continue their studies at a post-secondary institution.

Computer Literacy is a required course and is a prerequisite for all other computer courses. The intent of computer literacy is to expose students to a wide range of computer related topics. The course covers keyboarding skills, a brief history of computers, word processing, database and spreadsheets. It is strongly recommended that word processing follow computer literacy.

Students will learn to create and edit slides, use clip art, work with lines, fill, and colors, add sound effects, and many other features of Power Point. Through practical applications, simulations, and the use of the Internet as a resource and tool, students will become proficient in desktop publishing and visual presentations.

This course is designed for all students, both vocational and non-vocational. Students learn to format personal and business letters, memorandums, tables, reports, newsletters, bulletins, and brochures using Microsoft Word. It is very useful for the high school student, the student going on to college, and the student planning to work after high school. It is strongly recommended for everyone to take this course at the beginning of his or her high school career.

This is a required course designed for the advanced level, college preparatory student. The student will encounter theoretical and analytical methods and models that help in determining the effects an individual imparts upon and receives from other individuals, firms, industries, states and countries. An in depth analysis of microeconomic and macroeconomic theory through use of graphs, simulations, mathematical progressions, and statistical measurements. This course will also provide a study of governmental intervention in the economy, money and banking powers and procedures, business investment and finance, profit/efficiency motivated business decisions, and international economics/trade. Implementation of current events, research papers, oral presentations, simulations, guest speakers, video presentations, and field trips will encourage the students to use, manipulate, and understand the relevance of topics encountered. Ultimately the student will be encouraged to take the AP exam in either microeconomics or macroeconomics (or both) to gain college credit before leaving high school. This will be an excellent opportunity to gain an awareness of the rigors of college and/or the business/financial world.

A concentration on financial/fiscal awareness with emphasis placed upon: tax preparation, financial planning and monitoring, credit uses and acquisition, investment objectives and techniques. This course will employ the use of simulations duplicating real life situations, current affairs, research papers, oral presentations, guest speakers, and special projects to aid the student in learning and manipulating the concepts they encounter. This is an excellent preparation for the rigors of further educational, personal financial, and business pursuits.

It is the rapid, easy-to-learn writing tool with which to take notes and is extremely useful to the college-bound student for taking lecture and research notes.
